Hautes Courennes is situated on a plateau in the Luberon National Park, with magnificent views all around. The initial and most striking impression is the view of the Reillanne and Montjustin mountains to the east, with the Verdon range behind them, covered with snow in the winter. To the north-west is the old medieval village of Viens with the Lure mountain in the distance, also snow-capped in winter. In the valley below, fields of lavender spread down to the N100 highway, once part of the ancient Dolomite Trail. Your hosts are Claude Monge, a craftsman in stone and metal, and Linda Lorentz, a retired goat cheese maker (Linda speaks English). They have restored these century-old buildings and transformed them into independant holiday cottages, combining rustic charm with modern convenience. They began restoring the houses in the 80s and 90s, when their herd of sheep, their cheese factory and children allowed them time. At Hautes Courennes they enjoy absolute peace and solitude in the mountains, with the history and activities of the cities of Avignon and Aix-en-Provence just an hour away and the colorful country markets of Provence within minutes. Each house
is on two levels and contains the following amenities :
